PRODUCTION PHOTOS FROM THE NIGHTMARE!
I started out storing production photos on GPicturama for Three Shorts: Commentary on Society back in 2003... Wonder why I stopped! Here are but some of the official ones taken for the 2007 film, and more may continually be added. Photographers: Alisa Church, Chris Henderson, Crystal Loutzenhiser, Monica Martinez, Jake Retz, Garett Thomas.
DAY 1: THE BEDROOM (2.10.2007)
David and me setting up some of the equipment. We'd be filming some of the first shots before the main actress would arrive. |
Daniela with gray hair! Great makeup job, I must say. |
Jake reviewing the screenplay. |
All eyes on Veronica! Could NOT have made this film without her! In fact, this very scene was filmed at her apartment. |
Playing with fire! |
Lasagna for lunch. About now was when our primary actress arrived. |
Shanez, the Dreamer. |
Fingernails of glory! |
Me checkin' the monitor. |

Amidst several of the breaks we had scheduled throughout the day, one of them haaad to be for our actress, Shanez, who traveled approximately 500 miles in a day to immediately begin performing the same day -- on her birthday! We made sure she received a nice surprise at the end. |
DAY 2: THE BEACH (2.11.2007)
Long-ass tarp to house all of the equipment for the day, at Zmudowski State Beach. |
Staci and Shanez carry stuff during setup. |
Veronica generated a craft services tent. |
Awesome Sky with NO RAIN, which was strongly forecast for that weekend! |

Tarp 2: The Camera Tarp. Action! |
Rearview pic of Shanez. |

Tall tripod, or short DP? |
What is everyone staring at? |
Jake enters, as Glowing Man. |

Setting up the pivot shot, with close up of the Editing Log. |
Tarp 3: Nobody fell in the sand! |
DAY 3: THE CHURCH (2.17.2007)
Pews and Jake at the Christian Memorial Tabernacle. |
Bright morning light! I can only wish that we could have filmed during it, which made the room ten times more glorious than it was already. |

View from above, plus the stairs that prompted this view. |
Leah with the cutboard. |
Filming Jake, with the monitor nearby. Crystal, shown in very back, was one of the photographers. |
David sets up the dolly tracks. |
Raised camera just fits! |
Red pews. |

Some group pics taken just before lunch! |
David's lunch break by some apple boxes. |
Eatin' or talkin', it all looks the same. |
Here's Monica! |

Luckily, there was some extra time left over after a relatively fast shooting day, which allowed for some green screen shots in back, for which Alisa and David assisted with lighting. If these green screen shots had not been achieved today, they would have led to an even lengthier last day, which was coming up next. |
Shanez on the ivories! |
DAY 4, PART I: THE PARKING LOT (2.18.2007)
Passengerside service for Shanez. This abandoned parking lot would serve for a coastal church spot. Love visual effects! |
Conversation! |
Cracking sticks for SFX. Cody holds the boom mic during this. |

And so the green screens are set up. Yes, two green screens were used to fill the spaces of both windows... The car, at this point of the movie, would still be at the beach. You'll understand when you see the movie... |
Daniela seen through the viewfinder. |
This frackin' thing took forever to refold! It would have taken twice as long, though, had Shanez not assisted me. |

A brief stop before lunch break at an abandoned building for some aerial car stills, which ended up being useless within the capstone deadline anyway. No matter, though this might be reworked later on... |
DAY 4, PART 2: THE KITCHEN (2.18.2007)
Here's the Dining Commons, which we were lucky to film in -- we almost didn't get to film in any sort of kitchen. For more than a month, the Otter Bay Café put us off for a response, and then the week before filming, a lady said it was alright and took me into a back room, where another lady of higher status said, "Absolutely not."
Don't miss this place! That's enough ranting...
Three Chefs: David, Crystal and Alisa. |
Actress and Director: Shanez and Garett. |
Creating a claustrophobic table in an area no other tables could fit. |

Establishing the family: Daniela and Shanez are Mother and Daughter. Three women play nuclear family: Athena, Leah, and Daniela. In the rightmost shot, Ernestine meets Garett for the first time in regards to playing the Grandmother. |
Quick Chef David in BG, with Cody and Garett in foreground. |
Inspecting the camera settings. |

Different portions of the DC were utilized so that the Aquafina fridge would be displayed behind the table. Love that green screen! |
Script Soup Staci with the Editing Log. |

At the last minute, someone gave me the idea to have a brief cameo! |
