FINDING THE WUTTKE BENCH AT EDGEWOOD PARK!
Okay, so there's this bench at Edgewood Park that's all worked up because it takes a little while to get to. It's apparently known as the "Wuttke Bench" because of who it's dedicated to (and there's even a web page all about it here). Anyhoo, this page shows the best pics taken that day (or until the camera battery died).

This huge tree is found early on the route... I think we were on the Sylvan Loop? |

Ooh, dead wood... How exciting! |

Even more dead wood! Well, maybe not quite, just leafless (it was early spring at this point). |

This pic makes me crack up... I somehow look sickly, cancerous even! But I'm healthy as a bird... Am I that in need of a little sun? |
Speaking of sunlight, I think that played a role in making each of these pics more interesting, either through providing interesting rays or creating backlighting through translucent plants. |

Finally, out of the canyon jungly area! |

Beautiful view, and the Wuttke bench is along the hill in the background. |
At this point, my dad and I are now on the service road, which had a junction with the previous trail soon before getting out into the exposed portion of the park. |

Damn, some plants are huge! |
At this point, after holding a pic war with my dad, we were very near the freeway, and not that far from Crystal Springs Reservoir. |

Great views up there... This particular view shows some of where filming took place for Brave New World (2002). |

More great views; this one includes a huge set of piping. |

Dunno why, but this pic reminds me of Chris Martin of Coldplay... Again, by coincidence. |
Lots o' grain and grass! It was easy to see the wind that day because of all the vegetation flowing about. |
|
This panoramic image was crafted of three photos shot of the hillside shown. If you can find it, a shiny object in the shade is a sign which basically indicates being close to the Wuttke Bench. |

Now, we're on the Serpentine Loop. I'm guessing some birds inhabit the area... (Actually, it's a fact. Hawks, vultures, owls and more do!) |
Almost there! It was literally walking into the light during this last slab of trail; the flare was ever-present. Makes for nice pictures, but kills the eyes in the process! That sign I referred to during the panoramic pic's description is being passed by my dad in the rightmost pic. |
|
Last steps to the Katie M. Wuttke Bench... Found it! It's slightly elevated from what trail we had previously been on, so practically nothing can block what can be seen from it. |
|
Enjoying the view, which is excellent from all angles. No words. |
