GOLDEN GATE FERRY TRIP!

In these images, I am taking a ferry from San Francisco to the North Bay for the first time. My friend, Pam, and her fiancé, Alistair, were visiting relatives up there, and I utilized public transportation the majority of the way. BART was also included, but not as picture-worthy.

Photographer: Garett Thomas.

Here's the actual ferry. It was a Golden Gate Ferry, headed to Sausalito. These are the passengers unboarding prior to my trip.

These folks are going to board with me. The Ferry Building and the Embarcadero stand tall in the background.

By this point, I've boarded the ferry, upon the second floor, though we have not quite left the dock. Here's the view of the Bay Bridge.

Stair entrance, complete with wind-waving flag.

Looking into the cabin of my floor, which I [obviously] sat outside of.

View of Coit Tower, which I visited this past February.

Nice pic of the Ferry Building, as well as the Port of San Francisco.

Same location again, this time seen through my ferry's windows.

......

Alcatraz! I took a few various pics of the island as the boat neared it. I actually had been on a ferry to see the prison on the island more than a decade ago, but I certainly wasn't by myself!

"Do not stand on bench"! Makes sense to me! It actually can be tempting, when you're limited to looking through windows at times...

The lifebuoy, viewed with the wake of the fast-moving ferry. Never had to be used.

One of two self-pic shots, this one is more silhouetted, but is still the better of the two. The Bay Bridge is in the background, as is the rippling flag.

The other self-pic. Better lit, but not the better pic. I'm surprised my hair is remaining as "stable" as it appears, since it was so darn windy out there!

The Palace of Fine Arts. Really, all you can see is the dome, but it shows how prominantly it still displays from partway across the bay.

......

Two different shots of the wake, the second specifically done to display that. It's always a hypnotic, ever-changing piece of art. I had to film it, too, so I posted that on YouTube.

Another portion of the Bay Bridge, this section connects to the other side of Yerba Buena Island.

The Golden Gate Bridge. It speaks for itself.

Another boat (ferry perhaps?) heads southward as we pass by it.

......

After putting my camera away for awhile to enjoy much of the experience firsthand, we then entered the North Bay section. I took a few more pics before docking in Sausalito. Very different from San Francisco, certainly, and just as interesting. A huge flock of birds were continually diving for fish in my trip's last few minutes. Definitely an awesome experience.
